David Tilley

Managing Director

David joined NWD Architects in 1996, following his studies at Nottingham Trent University. The Interior Architecture degree that he gained at Nottingham has allowed David to indulge his passion for detail. Working closely with the NWD Architects team, he has amassed an extensive knowledge of the existing built form. Many of his schemes involve the adaptation of existing structures and interior spaces. He has an extensive knowledge of retail design, predominantly fashion retailing, and over the last 20 years has created many uplifting interiors. David has worked all over the UK and Europe with some of the leading female fashion retail labels, helping to create new concepts and aid their roll-out programmes. Latterly he has turned his attention to the refurbishment of Grade One and Two Listed Buildings in Cheshire and Herefordshire and new-build projects all over North West England and North Wales.

Harvey Davenport

Harvey has worked in the architectural design industry since 1984 and has worked extensively in the retail and commercial interiors sectors across the UK. A fully qualified Interior Designer, Harvey is a member of the Chartered Society of Designers (MCSD). Harvey is the team leader here on expansion programmes for a number of high profile retail clients, such as Pets at Home, Vets4Pets and Hobbycraft. The Pets at Home and Vets4Pets programme has been ongoing for over 20 years and continues to roll, with new stores, new company concepts and the refurbishment of existing sites. Other veterinary companies, with which we work, include the Linnaeus Group and Vet Partners, again with sites around the UK. We have a wealth of knowledge and experience when designing veterinary surgeries and super surgeries around the UK, and because of this expertise, we seem to be the company that clients and consultants consistently use. We have worked with Hobbycraft over the past few years on its ongoing programme of new sites or relocations. Harvey is also Company Secretary at NWD and looks after the administration and accounts team here.

Matt Davenport

Matt Davenport MCIAT, CEPH
Technical Director

Matt joined us in 2013 to increase the depth of the practice's technical expertise. He has previously worked in small to medium practices in Manchester and Chester, having studied and worked in Birmingham. Through his previous employment he has gained significant experience in the retail, care and residential sectors, and has held responsibility for multiple projects at any one time. He has a keen interest in both green technologies and modern methods of construction and can advise clients on their merits for both new build and remedial works. His principal role at NWD is to produce tender/ construction details and specifications, and over-see projects on site. He is an experienced Revit user, a Chartered Architectural Technologist, and is also a Certified Passivhaus / Passive House Designer.

Heather Done

Heather Done BA (Hons), MArch, Dip.Arch, RIBA
Director - Architect

Heather is a RIBA registered Architect, who joined us at the start of 2017. Having completed her studies at Liverpool John Moores University, Heather has worked in practices across Cheshire and the North West, and developed a particular interest in the residential and mixed use sectors, ranging from renovation and restoration to the conservation of Listed Buildings and new build projects. With a passion for sustainability and natural materials, Heather enjoys creating buildings that work with and complement their surroundings, to form homes and spaces that are both exciting and pragmatic to live in.

Siobahn Wilcox

Siobahn Wilcox BA (Hons) BArch, MArch, ARB
Architect

Siobahn is a registered Architect, who joined us in the middle of 2021. She completed her studies at Manchester and Huddersfield Universities and The Bartlett UCL. Siobahn has worked in practices around the world, as well as in Yorkshire and the North West. She has extensive educational and residential experience, with a passion for sustainable design, having completed several BREEAM rated buildings and a qualification in Ecological Design.

Mark Bebbington

Mark Bebbington
Senior Technician

Starting off in structures, then moving into architecture (with a three year stint as a Building Inspector), Mark started his Architectural Technician Services practice, mb-at, in 2010. Specialising in domestic extensions, he has built-up a solid client base and an enviable reputation throughout North Wales, Cheshire, Shropshire and further afield. We have known Mark for a while, and in late 2020, mb-at became part of NWD in order to expand, and to offer a wider range of services to clients, whilst continuing to deliver high quality construction drawings and guiding clients through the Planning and Building Regulations processes.

Matthew Staff

Matthew Staff
Senior Architectural Technologist

Matthew joined NWD Architects in 1997 and currently works within the retail sector of the practice, specifically with major UK retailer Pets at Home and its sister company, Vets4Pets. From the initial project brief, Matthew liaises with the client and takes the drawings from feasibility through to construction phase. Matthew has worked closely with the Pets at Home Development Department on implementing and maintaining a set of "Construction Design Guides" for the business that covers all aspects of the design and fit out of a store, groomers & veterinary surgery. These guides assist NWD, the client and contractors to complete new store fit-outs in a timely manner and to a consistently high quality.

Clive Lacey

Clive Lacey BSc (Hons) Construction Management, NEBOSH Dip., APS
Consultant Principal Designer

Clive is a dynamic Principal Designer, committed to providing an excellent CDM service to all clients, to ensure that all Health & Safety arrangements are fully compliant with CDM Regulations 2015. Clive graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 1990, with a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management. He extended his studies to enable him to incorporate RICS status and membership. He has since completed a NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety in Construction and is an incorporated Member of the Association of Project Safety. He has over 45 years of experience in the construction sector, assuring clients of a level of experience and knowledge that few other Principal Designers can match.

Michael Townsend

Michael Townsend BA (Hons) MArch
Architectural Assistant

Michael first joined NWD Architects in 2014 with the retail team. During this period, he worked on projects across the company’s portfolio. He started with working with multiple retail chains and veterinary companies, then moved onto advanced treatment veterinarian centres, office and commercial buildings, domestic extensions, new builds and land development. Michael is involved in all stages of project work including designing, planning applications, Building Regulations, tender and construction phases. Michael left NWD Architects in 2021 to pursue other opportunities and to gain experience working in other environments. During his time away, he worked with large scale house builders, preparing planning applications and development proposals along with tender drawings. Since returning to NWD Architects in 2022, Michael has picked up where he left off, working on projects across the practice. NWD Architects is currently supporting Michael to complete his RIBA Part 3, an ambition that Michael has held since first joining the practice in 2014.

Nicky Moore

Nicky Moore (MIAB)
Consultant Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant

Nicky joined the practice in 2018, supplying administrative and accounting support. Previously, she worked for a 'Big 4' accountancy firm in Liverpool within the insolvency sector. After taking time off for a family, she moved to Cheshire and attended night school to gain qualifications to set up a bookkeeping company. Nicky is a member of the International Association of Bookkeepers and has run her own practice since 2009.
