Hobbycraft

The brief

Founded in 1995, Hobbycraft is now a nationwide business with over 100 stores, making it the largest arts and crafts retailer in the UK. NWD Architects has worked with Hobbycraft for several years on the brand’s ongoing programme of new sites or relocations. In Bromborough in Wirral, the first new store for the brand in 2022, the design for a 6,500 sq. ft store was required, to include offices, amenity space, goods area and store. Hobbycraft is still expanding, with stores for 2023 ongoing.

NWD’s approach

The NWD team designed the standard concept, detail drawing package for the management teams and all suppliers. The main point of contact was with Hobbycraft’s own project manager and NWD also liaised with all consultants involved in the project. This included planning, building control, M&E consultants and all nominated suppliers.

The outcome

The NWD team now has many years of experience working closely with the Hobbycraft management team, M&E consultants and all other suppliers involved. With planning permission granted, on-site construction of a six week build period started in April 2022.
