Alford, Cheshire: mixed use barn conversions

The brief

The conversion of a series of very dilapidated , disused barns into a strong and vibrant mixed-use scheme.

NWD's approach

The barns were stripped down to bare walls, underpinned, reinforced and rebuilt to form a new village shop, two commercial units and four apartments.

The outcome

The development has created a new centre for the village and is a much used local resource within the community.
